About Jeffrey
A leading Canadian communications professional with roots dating back to 1980, Jeffrey Reed’s work in journalism, corporate communications and media relations is as current and contemporary today as it was more than 40 years ago. That’s why Fanshawe College of Applied Arts & Technology has relied on Jeffrey as a professor to help guide the careers of its Corporate Communication & Public Relations post-graduate students, many of whom have gone on to build their own successful careers.
Born and raised in London, Ont. and now living on rural property near Strathroy, Ont. with his wife, Beth, Jeffrey is recognized across Canada for his award-winning writing for magazines and newspapers, and for clients producing marketing publications. A three-time author and much in-demand public speaker, Jeffrey is a graduate of Fanshawe College’s respected Broadcast Journalism program. But his first appearance in local media came in 1980 when The London Free Press published his opinion editorial. More than four decades later, Jeffrey is that newspaper’s longest-running contributor.
In 1989, Jeffrey established his corporate communications and media relations company, Jeffrey Reed Reporting. As a seasoned journalist whose writing has appeared in every major newspaper across Canada and in hundreds of periodicals across North America, Jeffrey offers an unmatched, unique perspective to his clients in Canada and the U.S. From media releases to anniversary books, Jeffrey knows what it takes to get your message heard by your target audience. That’s why The Canadian Seniors’ Golf Association entrusted Jeffrey to write its 100th anniversary book – a two-year project – now proudly housed in the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame and Museum.
Very few corporate communications and media relations professionals offer as many areas of expertise as does Jeffrey Reed. As a veteran of news, entertainment and sports journalism, and an experienced writer for trade publications and of award-winning marketing material, Jeffrey has special interests and unparalleled experience in the areas of business profiles, residential and heavy construction, home improvement and real estate, road building, transportation, industry/manufacturing and, of course, sports.
As a testament to his versatility as a writer, Jeffrey is the only Canadian golf writer to have captured back-to-back awards for, Best Website Feature Column, presented by the Golf Journalists Association of Canada. And, he produced all of the written material for Doug Tarry Homes’ new homes brochure which won the Grand SAM Award, presented by the Canadian Home Builders’ Association.
On the playing field, Jeffrey is a former pitcher and coach with the London Majors of the semi-professional Intercounty Baseball League. Later, he was a golf professional and ambassador as a 14-year Staff Advisory member with Wilson Golf. Off the field, Jeffrey founded the Intercounty Baseball League media relations office, still going strong today. He wrote London’s first baseball history book in which he revealed that baseball greats Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb had ties to Little League baseball in London. And, as the senior member of the local sports media, Jeffrey is a well-respected host, writer and producer of multiple radio and television shows, including Forest City Fairways, and Sport Rap. It’s no wonder he was recently nominated for the London Sports Hall of Fame.
Recently, Jeffrey and Beth, through their award-winning website, LondonOntarioSports.com – London’s Trusted Source for Sports News & Information, now including in its entirety LondonOntarioGolf.com, the Voice of Golf in Southwestern Ontario – surpassed $100,000 in charitable giving. They present the annual London Ontario Golf Heart Award (est. 2011), and the annual Jeffrey Reed Courage Award (est. 2015), as well as support numerous local not-for-profits in Southwestern Ontario.
