Public Speaking

Without a doubt, no public speaker in Southwestern Ontario offers as many fascinating speaking topics as does Jeffrey Reed, a leading Canadian communications professional boasting expertise and experience in a myriad of sectors. Jeffrey brings to the podium and stage 40-plus years of print and broadcast journalism, public speaking to groups of all sizes – from high school sports teams to keynote addresses – and experience as a highly-regarded instructor at both Western University and Fanshawe College of Applied Arts & Technology.

During his illustrious career, Jeffrey has written, produced and hosted local radio and television shows, has captured awards for his debating skills on CTV-hosted current affairs programs, and he has called play-by-play of every major sports team in London, including the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League, and Western Mustangs football.

A disabled athlete living with numerous physical challenges, Jeffrey achieved the impossible, pitching and coaching with the London Majors of the semi-professional Intercounty Baseball League. Upon retirement in 2001, he worked tirelessly to become a golf professional and brand ambassador, and for 14 years was a Staff Advisory member with Wilson Golf. Speaking to your group, Jeffrey will recount how doctors told him he would never walk properly and would never run, and that participating in competitive sports was impossible. When Jeffrey speaks at your event, you’ll learn about the power of hope, the power of dreaming, the importance of mentors in our lives and what it takes to see your dreams come true.

Of course, numerous groups across Canada have been fascinated by Jeffrey’s endless stories about interviewing thousands of star athletes from the professional ranks. His first feature interview took place in 1981 with no other than The Great One, Wayne Gretzky. Hear Jeffrey tell the story about how that exclusive interview was arranged, and how years later he would recount that day with Walter Gretzky. You’ll be on the edge of your seat when Jeffrey talks about his four-day encounter with all-time Major League Baseball home run champion Barry Bonds at Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers Stadium. Get a backstage pass and go into the locker rooms when you listen to Jeffrey tell stories like these as he speaks at your event.

“Jeffrey Reed is one of the most knowledgeable, engaging and inspiring speakers I’ve ever had the pleasure to listen to. His story is one of determination, a man who overcame physical limitations to not only play semi-pro baseball, but also become a golf pro. He has also conquered the very difficult freelance writing field. Jeffrey has become one of the most respected and reliable sports authors in North America. If you get a chance to see Jeffrey speak, don’t miss it!”

In addition, local groups including London Association of Volunteer Administrators, and International Association of Business Communicators have hired Jeffrey to educate their members on professional business communications:

“Thank you for attending our London Association of Volunteer Administrators (LAVA) meeting. Your information and presentation was well received by our members. Your information gives us the opportunity to consider exactly how we will best promote ourselves. The tips on managing the written word and how best to express ourselves to the media is something that many of us have reason to use.”
Bill Mills
Chair, Professional Development Committee, LAVA
“It was great to hear of someone’s personal experiences at Jeffrey Reed’s seminar at our London International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) breakfast meeting. It was not just a regurgitation of how to be successful, but rather it was a seminar on how someone actually succeeded. Jeffrey Reed was very relatable.”
